King Cool – The Newman Collection

We’ve been wearing the Newman strap style for over ten years now and in brown and black croco variations it has been in our product range since 2013. The time has come to take this design and really make it a part of the Bulang and Sons portfolio – by applying our very own style and quality standards to the Newman strap and reimagining it as a modern fashion statement. Subtle and sleek, stylish and sophisticated, all the while paying homage to the original King Cool: This is the Bulang and Sons Newman Collection!

The Inspiration

The style of Paul Newman has always been and still is an inspiration to Bernhard Bulang: “Whether in one of his iconic leisure looks or while in a racing suit on the track, from a simple T-shirt and denim combination to evening attire – he always looked effortlessly cool. And just look at the way he wore his watches on the strap that became synonymous with his name!” Bernhard has always liked to sport such a strap himself, sometimes with his own Newman Daytona, but also with a Submariner or a dress watch like the Datejust.

The Quality

We have worked closely with our trusted craftsmen in Tuscany to produce a thin, yet durable leather that keeps a low and comfortable profile even when layered. Hand made from the finest vegetable tanned leathers available, the overall effect is sleek, elegant and absolutely timeless. A narrow and elegant cuff nestles neatly beneath your watch and the matching watch strap, providing gentle comfort while holding your precious watch firmly in place no matter what the activity – from racing cars to a glamorous night on the town.

The Variety

These straps are presented in a multitude of finishes and widths that work in a whole range of contexts, opening up this strap style way beyond the boundary of the vintage Daytona. From a 38mm jumbo to 34mm case variants – with the various leathers and colours, the good old Newman strap becomes a canvas for many watches and a fashion statement in itself, effortlessly gliding between a formal business look or casual apparel.
